The objective of the strength of materials lab is to demonstrate the basic principles in the area of strength and mechanics of materials and structural analysis to the undergraduate students through a series of experiments. The following are the list of equipment.

3 Buckling of Struts apparatus
Experimental capabilities include determining the buckling load of beams such as fixed at both ends, pinned at both ends, fixed at one end and pinned at the other.

The machine is ideally suited for tensile, compression, bend, re-bend, proof and ultimate strength tests on specimens such as metals, non-metals and compound materials.

7 High-temperature fretting wear tester
This rig can be used at elevated temperatures having the features of measuring and recording simultaneously the frictional force and the normal force between the contacting surfaces.
8 Profile Projector
Profile Projector is also known as an optical comparator, or even called a shadowgraph, a profile projector is an optical instrument that can be used for measuring. It is a useful item in a small parts machine shop or production line for the quality control inspection team. The projector magnifies the profile of the specimen, and displays this on the built-in projection screen. On this screen there is typically a grid that can be rotated 360 degrees so the X-Y axis of the screen can be aligned with a straight edge of the machined part to examine or measure.
