Dr. John Philip

Dr.John Philip obtained a Ph.D from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He did postdoctoral research at CNRS, France and at University of Hull, UK. He held the position of visiting professor at the ESPCI, Paris and CRPP-CNRS, Bordeaux, France. In 1995, he joined the Metallurgy and Materials Group of Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam. He heads two research sections at metallurgy and materials group since 2005. He is also a Professor of Homi Bhabha National Institute.
He is the recipient of several awards, which include Science and Technology excellence award, INS medal, NDT man of the year award, MRSI medal and Ron Halmshaw award of British Institute of NDT and Distinguished Faculty award of Homi Bhabha National Institute in 2015. He is also a recipient of several international fellowships. After joining IGCAR, he has independently executed research projects worth 15 crore, including an Indo-French project. He has six patents in his credit and over 170 publications in leading refereed international journals with a total impact factor of 360. His H-index is 37 with ~ 4600 citations. He has delivered more than 120 invited lectures in India and abroad. He is the editor-in-chief of Journal of Nanofluids of American Scientific Publishers, editorial board member of many journals, reviewer of over 50 international journals and national funding agencies (BRNS, DST, CSIR, UGC, etc). He is a member of several committees, board of studies of University of Pondicherry and member, medical Biotechnology and nano-technology sectional committee of bureau of Indian standards.
He has supervised 10 Ph.D and many M.Tech students. His research activities are in the broad area of nanomaterials, nanofluids and NDT.
